Christopher Heyerdahl, who plays an ancient vampire in the Twilight Saga movies, will now play one in another screen adaptation of a popular book series, this time on TV. Heyerdahl is joining HBO’s hit vampire drama True Blood in a recurring role. He will portray Dieter Braun, an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority and especially enjoys enhanced interrogation. That is familiar territory for Sanctuary alum Heyerdahl who played the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in 3 of the Twilight movies: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2. Additionally, he played a demon in an arc on the CW’s Supernatural. Heyerdahl, repped by Open Entertainment’s Lesa Kirk, currently co-stars on the AMC drama series Hell On Wheels, playing Norwegian badass The Swede. Christopher Meloni is officially a new series regular on “”. Confirming previous reporTrue Bloodts that the Elliot Stabler of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” was in talks to join the cast of the hit vampire-themed series, executive producer Alan Ball has told TVLine that the 50-year-old actor will play “an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.”
The negotiations between Meloni and HBO started weeks ago. This role marks his return to the cable network after he played bisexual criminal Chris Keller on prison drama “Oz”, which ran from 1998 to 2003.
Prior to casting Meloni, “True Blood” has added British actress Lucy Griffiths to the cast line-up. She lands another regular role as Nora, who is strongly related to Eric since she was also created by Godric. This female vampire is described as being beautiful, intelligent, intimidating and a very good liar.
The third season of “True Blood” is expected to premiere in summer 2012. Denis O’Hare has been confirmed to reprise his role as Russell Edgington, the vampire King of Mississippi.

“True Blood” will get an extra dose of werewolves in the upcoming season 5. The HBO series is currently casting for more lycanthropes and Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide, gushed that the pack will be all over the show.
“Oh my god, I can’t f***ing wait,” the 34-year-old hunk expressed his excitement about the werewolf plot. “The fact that they’re basically busy casting an entire new pack of werewolves is unbelievable. There’s going to be like a werewolf show within the show this this year, so I’m like a kid about it!”
Manganiello, however, refuses to confirm if Alcide’s father is one of the new werewolves heading to the show. “It may not be what you expect,” he said at the after-party for the recently held Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “Alcide’s dad is in [Charlaine Harris' fifth Sookie novel]. Whether or not he makes an appearance…well, that’s a question for [executive producer] Alan [Ball].”
Meanwhile, one new face who will surely join the pack next season is Annie, the mother of late werewolf packmaster Marcus. She will be portrayed by “My Name is Earl” alum Dale Dickey.
The show will additionally introduce a hot young she-wolf named Rikki, and a hard-bodied fiftysomething named J.D. who might be Alcide’s father.

Details of two new characters on “True Blood” season 5 are unveiled while a casting call for these roles is being put out. According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the new faces is someone who is having a history with Eric.

The fifth season of the HBO hit series will introduce another new female vampire. Described as a powerful ancient vampire and a world-class seductress who’s also a little mad, she is named Salome which is similar to the name of Herodias’ daughter in the Bible.
Co-executive producer Raelle Tucker has dished on this character, saying that she is a “very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year … a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.”
More new characters are likely going to come to “True Blood” since creator Alan Ball previously teased that the upcoming fifth season will feature “spirits without bodies, which may or may not be ghosts, freakish demons and more unusual supernatural creatures never seen before.”
Kristin Bauer will ditch her fangs to play wicked Maleficent on “Once Upon a Time“. The Pamela Swynford De Beaufort of “True Blood” has landed a one-episode guest spot on the new series that will debut on Sunday, October 23, a spokesperson for ABC has confirmed.
Sharing her excitement about the new role, Bauer tweeted on Tuesday, September 27, “Packing for Vancouver – to shoot #OnceUponaTime – new fantastical TV show.” She further teased, “Just got to Vancouver & had fantastical wardrobe fitting! Not sure Maleficent’s future But the present is pretty fun!”
According to TVLine, the role of the evil witch from “Sleeping Beauty” was originally given to Paula Marshall (“Californication“). However, it was reported that “producers decided to go in a different direction.” Bauer will appear in the second episode that will air on October 30.
Coming from “Lost” writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, “Once Upon a Time” is a fantasy family drama that centers its story on Emma Swan who’s been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. Her life is changed after she meets a boy who tries to convince her that fairytale characters actually exist and are living in the modern time.
“House M.D.” alum Jennifer Morrison takes the lead role as Emma. She is joined by Ginnifer Goodwin, Joshua Dallas, Jessy Schram, Lana Parrilla and Giancarlo Esposito among others in the cast ensemble.
